# Methodology: sources, calculations and update policy

> How Hyperliquid Field Guide verifies product terms, normalizes API units, calculates costs, labels uncertainty and monitors official-source drift.

Bottom line: Primary Hyperliquid documentation and API responses are the factual source of truth. Derived values are labeled, formulas are tested, and affiliate economics are separated from editorial conclusions.

## Source hierarchy

Current official documentation and the official API rank first. Foundation statements are used for protocol-level descriptions. Third-party pages help identify search intent and comparison questions but do not establish fee, referral or risk facts.

When an interface value and a static page disagree, the live official order preview governs the decision. We publish the date reviewed and link the source next to technical claims.

## Calculation policy

Dollar OI is derived from base OI multiplied by mark price. Impact spread is derived from official impact bid and ask around mid. Simple annualized funding multiplies the current hourly rate by 24 × 365 and is explicitly not a forecast.

The cost calculator keeps trading fees, referral savings, funding, slippage, bridge and extra execution costs separate. A negative modeled funding cash flow is a credit. A negative market rate pays longs and charges shorts.

## What our evidence establishes

We distinguish four evidence types: an official published rule, a public UI observation, a modeled scenario and a connected-account observation. A claim must stay within what its evidence establishes.

Our public AWD invite check was paired with an arbitrary-code control. Both displayed the supplied string. This cannot establish code validity, account acceptance or realized savings. Connected-account evidence has not been published.

We describe documented evidence and avoid unsupported rankings. The standard 4% discount does not make one valid code superior to another valid code.

## Source-drift monitoring

The repository includes a read-only script that checks selected official pages and expected terms. It is run during release checks. Passing it does not establish that every upstream fact is unchanged, and it does not edit production copy.

A failed check requires review of the source and any affected calculations. We do not claim an always-on monitoring service. Dates change when a relevant editorial review or correction actually occurs.

## Affiliate and uncertainty policy

The site may earn referral rewards from code AWD. The referral relationship is disclosed on pages where activation occurs and in the footer. It does not turn estimates into guarantees.

We label protocol claims, derived values, live timestamps and degraded feeds. We do not claim code audits, legal status, future availability, guaranteed returns or guaranteed execution.
