Short glossary for traders new to Hyperliquid.
If you are coming from a CEX, a few Hyperliquid-specific terms show up a lot. Quick definitions so the rest of the page makes sense.
Perpetual futures contract. A derivative that tracks a spot price but never expires — traders pay or receive a small funding rate to keep the price anchored.
A taker crosses the order book (fills immediately, pays the higher fee). A maker adds liquidity to the book (resting order, pays the lower fee).
A flat percentage off the taker and maker fee — on Hyperliquid, capped at 4% per account. AWD locks in that maximum.
Hyperliquid Liquidity Provider vault. The protocol-run market-making vault that provides depth across pairs. Retail can deposit USDC to earn a share of its P&L.
Hyperliquid’s native token. Staked HYPE unlocks additional fee discounts that stack on top of the referral discount.
